Creating a quote from a DXF file
From drawing to price: line items, DXF processing, and cost components.
Updated on October 6, 2026
- Click New Quote in the sidebar.
- Select the customer.
- Add a laser cutting item specifying material, thickness, and assist gas.
- Upload the DXF file. Kine Quote measures cut length, counts pierces, and calculates cutting time.
- Review dimensions and price, add labor, raw materials, and external services if applicable, and save.
What is parsed from the DXF
- Lines, arcs, circles, polylines, and splines on cutting layers.
- Part dimensions, total cut length, and number of pierces.
- Text, dimensions, and hatches are excluded from calculations.
Plan quota
Each newly saved quote counts toward your monthly quota. Editing an existing quote does not count again. Besides DXF, Kine Quote reads G-code (.nc, .g, .cnc, .txt) and PLT. DWG and LXD are closed formats: save them as DXF in your software.
